Climate Change Coordinators (5 new roles)Climate Change Coordinators (5 new roles) Location - Flexible - this is a hybrid role with flexible home and office working Hours - 35 per week Contract - Fixed Term 24 months Closing date - 16th August 2022 Job Summary The post holders will undertake activities and projects that contribute towards the Council s transition to net zero, to ensure we work towards the Scottish Government target to end Scotland s contribution to climate change no later than 2045. There will be daily involvement within a range of ongoing projects and workstreams, with the opportunity to take a lead role in one of the following areas: • Communications & Engagement Further Information This is an exciting opportunity to help support the Scottish Government s pledge to end Scotland s contribution to climate change no later than 2045. All public bodies have a duty to support and work towards this target under the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009, as amended by the Climate Change (Emissions Reduction Targets) (Scotland) Act 2019, and at a meeting of The Highland Council on 9th May 2019, Members agreed that the Council declare a climate and ecological emergency, whilst recommitting to achieving a carbon neutral Highland by 2025. You will be part of a dedicated and focused team that plays a key role in supporting the Council s pathway to net zero, undertaking a wide range of duties that will require a high level of skill and dedication to achieve high quality results.
