Lead Business Analyst / Pricing – General Insurance (Commercial & Specialty Lines)

My client is a fast-growing technology scale-up, recently Series A funded, specialising in innovative solutions for the General Insurance sector, with a focus on Commercial and Specialty Lines . They are now seeking a Senior BA to join their team, helping to develop advanced pricing products and supporting clients across General insurance

Role Overview

This role sits at the intersection of pricing, analytics, and client delivery. You will work directly with underwriters and actuaries to transform complex pricing models into automated, operational systems. You’ll have the opportunity to shape product development, influence system configuration, and engage with clients to implement solutions that streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements gathering through workshops and one-to-one sessions, capturing and clarifying business needs.
  • Translate client pricing and underwriting processes into automated system workflows .
  • Convert existing pricing models (Excel VBA, Python, R) into proprietary solutions and develop reusable templates or custom raters.
  • Create clear, high-quality documentation: specifications, user stories, flow diagrams, and wireframes .
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to resolve blockers, manage delivery timelines, and oversee client onboarding from proof of concept to live use.
  • Mentor junior analysts, supporting their development and ensuring quality delivery.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies to support iterative product development.

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences, or similar analytical field.
  • Strong experience in insurance pricing, underwriting, or actuarial analysis within Commercial/Specialty lines , preferably London Market.
  • Advanced Excel skills , including VBA; experience in R or Python advantageous.
  • Skilled at producing technical specifications and translating business needs into system designs.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and using tools like JIRA for backlog and sprint management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
