Senior System Engineer
We’re supporting a global systematic trading firm that is expanding its core infrastructure group. This team builds, maintains, and improves the Linux platforms that underpin the firm’s research, trading, and large-scale compute environments.
You’ll be working across a fast-moving, collaborative engineering function where automation, reliability, and performance are non-negotiable.
What you’ll be working on
- Managing and supporting a large fleet of Linux servers in a production environment
- Performing system changes, patching, troubleshooting, and incident response
- Improving automation using Ansible and scripting (Bash/Python)
- Integrating Linux systems with authentication and privilege-management platforms
- Maintaining storage, mounts, and file-system configurations (CIFS/NFS/Samba/LVM)
- Partnering with internal teams to analyse logs, tune performance, and prevent issues
- Updating documentation and contributing to operational standards
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years Linux administration experience (RHEL preferred)
- Strong hands-on experience with automation and IaC (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.)
- Knowledge of authentication/AD integration and privilege management
- Bash or Python scripting for automation
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Kerberos)
- Experience with storage and mount configurations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in high-ownership environments
