Senior Data Management Analyst

Job summary

The Senior Data Management Analyst is a significant central role in supporting UCLHs strategic and operational use of data throughout the organisation. You will be working as part of an agile team with a core focus on activity, income and workforce data models, and the integration of new datasets into our data warehouse systems. We are looking for an individual who has in-depth knowledge and experience of the day-to-day business of a teaching hospital and will work effectively with clinical, operational, finance, transformation, ICT, and other teams.

Main duties of the job

In addition, you will possess:

Expert technical skills (SQL, EPIC Reporting Stack, R)

innate problem-solving skills

detailed understanding of NHS Data Dictionary, Payment by Results and other commissioning options

a significant experience with a broad set of NHS datasets (income, workforce, outpatient, inpatients, imaging, diagnostics, theatres, pharmacy, pathology, RTT, modelling, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, maternity, commissioning, etc.)

excellent communication skills

stakeholder management, requirements gathering and specification design

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Holds a relevant Masters' degree level qualification or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential
  • Significant experience in an information analysis / processing role
  • Proven experience of working with relational databases, including complex SQL
  • Proven experience of using SQL Server to a high standard
  • Proven experience of using MS Excel to high standard
Desirable
  • Experience in an Information Analysis role in an NHS or other healthcare information environment
  • Proven experience of using Microsoft BI stack, including Power BI, MS Access
  • Experience of using Epic BI stack, including developing Radar, Slicer Diver, Reporting Workbench contents

Skills and Abilities

Essential
  • Knowledge of information analysis and the use of information across the NHS acquired through degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to interrogate databases
  • Ability to interpret complex data
  • Ability to convert data to management information
  • Advanced use of Power BI and/or MS Excel
  • Ability to independently interpret the requirements of information users and present detailed, complex reports that can be understood by a wide audience.
  • Understanding of data quality issues and how these relate to the organisation as a whole
  • Ability to produce clear and comprehensive documentation for BI and data transformation processes
Desirable
  • Advanced use of MS Excel (macro level)
  • Use of R and/or Python for machine learning and predictive analytics
  • Understanding of the Acute Healthcare business environment, particularly relating to income generation and financial planning across the organisation as a whole.
