We are looking for a motivated Embedded Software Engineer with 1–2+ years of commercial experience to join an established and growing engineering team developing innovative Energy Storage and Battery Technologies for a range of demanding applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to build on their existing embedded software experience while working on exciting, real-world engineering projects. The role will involve developing and testing firmware, supporting hardware integration, debugging software and contributing to the wider product development lifecycle alongside experienced engineers.

The ideal candidate will have a good foundation in embedded C/C++, some practical experience working with microcontrollers and a genuine interest in embedded systems. They should be keen to learn, develop their technical skills and work collaboratively to help deliver reliable and effective software solutions.
Previous experience in energy storage, battery management systems or power electronics would be advantageous but is not essential.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development, testing and maintenance of embedded software and firmware using C/C++.
  • Write and modify software for microcontrollers, supporting system functionality and peripheral interfaces.
  • Support the implementation and testing of communication interfaces and protocols, including CAN, UART, SPI and I²C.
  • Work with experienced engineers to integrate embedded software with electronic hardware, sensors and battery management systems.
  • Help identify, investigate and resolve software bugs and technical issues through debugging and testing.
  • Carry out software testing and support verification activities to check functionality, reliability and performance.
  • Use development tools, debuggers and test equipment to support software development and fault finding.
  • Maintain technical documentation and follow established coding standards and software development processes.
  • Participate in code reviews and team discussions to improve code quality and develop good software engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with software, electronics and systems engineers during prototyping, product development and testing.
  • Develop technical knowledge and gradually take on greater responsibility for embedded software development tasks.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 1–2+ years of commercial experience in embedded software development, firmware engineering or a relevant engineering role involving C/C++.
  • Good working knowledge of embedded C/C++ and some practical experience writing, modifying or debugging code.
  • A basic understanding of microcontrollers and embedded systems.
  • Some experience working with hardware interfaces, peripherals or electronic components.
  • Familiarity with embedded communication protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI or I²C.
  • A basic understanding of software debugging, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with software development environments, IDEs and debugging tools.
  • Some experience using version control systems, ideally Git.
  • Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A willingness to learn, ask questions and develop technical knowledge within a collaborative engineering environment.
