SQL Systems Support Engineer

Due to company growth and expansion, a great permanent opportunity has arisen for a SQL Systems Support Engineer working within an Energy and Data organisation.   Providing a high standard of technical support to software and across systems that are predominantly running on SQL.  Including configuration of the company software and systems.

The main purpose of the role is to provided maintenance of the systems, adding/extracting information, manipulation and updates of data and general trouble shooting of queries that have been created by external customers and internal departments. 

Once a problem is identified, to work closely with the development team to ensure that the query is resolved in a timely manner.   Liaising with the Project Delivery Team so the completed query can then be communicated to the customer and that any progress is always communicated along the way.

Currently, there is minimal technical support in this particular office and the successful candidate will be managed remotely but will be fully supported and excellent training provided.   You will enjoy communicating with internal teams but also happy to work under your own initiative.

There is hybrid working on offer of two days working in the office and three days working from home per week.  There is plenty of free on-site parking, the office is only a short walk from a train station and there is a good bus link.

Skills/experience and attributes:

• Minimum of one year experience configuring software/systems running on SQL
• Strong experience of SQL
• Any knowledge or experience of Oracle is desirable
• Knowledge or experience of Web Focus is nice to have
• Experience of systems configuration/administration
• Intermediate experience of Excel, Word and Outlook
• Trouble shooting and analysis skills
• Keen eye for detail
• Ideally degree educated
• Strong communication skills verbal and written
• Good interpersonal, relationship building skills
• Organised with strong administration skills
• Good telephone manner
