Infrastructure Engineer

Due to expansion, Next Generation are currently recruiting for an Infrastructure Engineer to work with a leading global manufacturer who produce machined components supplying predominantly into the energy industries. As the Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and long-term planning of onsite infrastructure, this will involve: LAN components and liaising with WAN providers; physical and virtual server environments, storage and print infrastructure & end user compute.

The following shifts are available for the Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Monday - Friday (Days)

Duties of the Infrastructure Engineer:

  • Implement and maintain the site Physical & virtual Server infrastructure.
  • Manage all LAN components including switching, wired and wireless networks; Virtual environments and end user compute estate.
  • Ensure all equipment is suitably protected with appropriate security control measures and support initiative working towards CE+.
  • Own the management of vulnerabilities and all necessary patching.
  • Maintain and regularly support testing of IT and site wide DR/BCP plans. Support incremental security improvements.
  • Ensure that users/profiles and licenses are managed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records across projects and service items, updating the service desk solution updating tickets and reporting performance.

The successful candidate for the Infrastructure Engineers position will have the following experience:

  • Excellent communication & influencing skills; able to demonstrate successful engagement with customers/suppliers at all levels.
  • Ability to work to work collaboratively with colleagues and other team members.
  • Able to demonstrate expertise across LAN/VLAN networking and switch configuration; demonstrable knowledge of Meraki Wireless solutions would be helpful.
  • Skilled in the use and deployment of Windows Server and AD; VMWare; Veeam
  • At least a basic understanding and of networking principles and LAN switching. Ability to demonstrate this would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of security controls and requirements for Cyber Essentials+.
  • Microsoft, CompTIA or similar level of qualification would advantageous.
  • Possess or be able to obtain clearance through DBS checks.
  • Candidates must already have the right to work in the UK without restrictions/sponsorship.
  • Expected to comply with the Company’s Policies and supporting documentation in respect of Data Protection, Information Security and Confidentiality.
