Fire and Security Engineer Apprentice

As an apprentice fire & security engineer, you will gain on-the-job experience in installing & maintaining fire, CCTV, access control & intruder alarm systems. You'll work alongside our experienced engineers to provide professional & dependable quality service to customers & contractors in a timely manner.

Role

  • Installation of new fire & security systems to meet company requirement
  • Seeing installation projects through to completion
  • Carry out servicing and repairs on various security systems including Advanced, Gent, Apollo and Hochiki, Texecom, Galaxy, Menvier, Hikvision, Dahua, Avigilon, TDSi, Integra, Paxton
  • Complete the necessary paperwork and reports in a timely manner
  • Attend reactive calls and breakdowns and perform general maintenance work including tracing and rectification of faults

Training

Fire emergency and security systems technician level 3

The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the fire emergency and security systems technician standard. On completion the apprentice will receive level 3 fire emergency and security systems technician qualification.

Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required depending on current level.   

You will attend Yeovil College on a block week basis:

Year 1 - 10 Block weeks (spread across the year)
Year 2 - 6 Block weeks (spread across the year)
Year 3 - 4 Block weeks (spread across the year)
Training to include:

Critical Health and Safety knowledge for the achievement of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) card (CSCS affiliated) for employment purposes, with regular assessment to ensure a deep and thorough understanding, with a clear demonstration of competence before being allowed to attempt the end-point assessment
