Product Manager

The team you’ll be joining

Confidential is a global leader in payments transaction technologies, turning everyday interactions with businesses into exceptional experiences.

We are an ASX listed global tech company - and we run the everyday transactions that make your life easier. Confidential is an issuer and processor of prepaid financial cards, ranging from reloadable cards through to traditional, single-store gift cards. We run in the background behind gift card, salary packaging and employee rewards programs and our headquarters are located in Melbourne, Australia, with approximately 450 employees across Australia, North America, and the UK/EU. We serve clients in 27 countries, process transactions exceeding AUD120B annually, and are focused on delivering double-digit growth by FY27.

Our culture & values

Our team knocks the boring out of payments and we do it in our own unique way: having a ‘one team’ mentality, being open, honest and trusted, bringing awesome every day, and knowing that simplicity is genius! Our core values are One Team, Openness, Awesomeness and Simplicity.

Our place is one of collaboration, teamwork & innovation. But, above all, it’s one that embraces difference. And rather than have you blend in, we want to help you unleash your full potential.

What you’ll do

As a Group Product Manager you will lead a team of Product Managers responsible for our Workforce Solutions product vertical within Confidential's portfolio. Our Government Solutions vertical focusses on building innovative payment solutions for the public sector, enabling central government, local authorities, and agencies to disburse funds to citizens, recipients, and programmes with the controls, auditability, and reporting the sector demands. This is a player-coach role; you are accountable for the strategic direction, delivery performance, and commercial outcomes of your vertical, while also building, managing, and developing the PMs within it.

You set the standard for what end-to-end product ownership looks like at Confidential. Your team looks to you for clarity on where to focus, how to make trade-offs, and what good looks like. Your peers in engineering, design, commercial, and compliance look to you as the accountable product voice for your vertical. This role requires someone who can operate at both the strategic and operational level - setting the vision one moment and unblocking a squad the next.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Insight

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for your vertical, ensuring it aligns with Confidential's company-wide objectives and delivers measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Maintain a comprehensive view of the market, competitive landscape, and client needs within your vertical - using that insight to set direction and identify growth opportunities.
  • Represent your vertical in product leadership forums, contributing to portfolio-level prioritisation, investment decisions, and strategic planning.
  • Engage directly with key clients, partners, and scheme representatives where senior product engagement is required, bringing market insight back into product decisions.

Discovery & Delivery

  • Ensure your PMs are running effective discovery - validating problems before committing to solutions, managing scope intelligently, and delivering outcomes rather than outputs.
  • Set clear goals and priorities for your team, ensuring each PM has well-defined accountability and the support they need to operate with autonomy.
  • Drive alignment between product, engineering, design, and commercial teams within your vertical, resolving conflicts, managing dependencies, and removing blockers.
  • Ensure product decisions within your vertical account for regulatory requirements, scheme compliance, and risk management across all relevant jurisdictions.

Launch & Growth

  • Hold your team accountable for end-to-end ownership - not just shipping features, but ensuring they are launched effectively, adopted by clients, and delivering against success metrics.
  • Establish and monitor product KPIs for your vertical, creating visibility into performance and using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with product marketing and commercial leadership to ensure your vertical's go-to-market approach is sharp, differentiated, and commercially effective.

Craft & Leadership

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Product Managers, providing regular coaching, feedback, and career development support.
  • Build a high-performing product team - hiring well, setting clear expectations, creating psychological safety, and holding people to a high bar.
  • Drive the development of product practices, processes, and culture across the broader product function, not just within your own team.
  • Collaborate with other Group Product Managers, Product Directors and the Senior Director of Product on headcount planning, team structure, and organisational design decisions.

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • 8+ years of product management experience, including at least 2 years managing or leading other product managers.
  • Significant experience in payments, card issuing, transaction processing, or financial services, with a strong understanding of the commercial and regulatory landscape.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing product teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to set direction for a product vertical and connect it to business outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging C-suite executives, enterprise clients, and external partners.
  • Commercial acumen — ability to understand revenue drivers, client economics, and competitive dynamics within the payments industry.
  • Experience operating across multiple geographies and navigating multi-market complexity.

What we offer you

If you love what you do, you should love where you do it. We offer you:

  • A salary commensurate with your skills, experience and market benchmarks.
  • Participation in the company bonus scheme.
  • Eligible health care and pension benefits
  • A flexible hybrid working culture where you’re empowered to work in a way that suits your lifestyle.
  • Additional leave including our Take 5 extra annual leave program, birthday leave and two days of volunteer leave per year.
  • Parental support including up to 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • Growth and development opportunities including access to funding for professional memberships, certifications, conferences and more.
  • A culture that values collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
  • A global business landscape that connects you with colleagues working throughout Australia, UK, North America and Europe.
