We’re looking for an experienced Electronic Engineer to join a growing engineering team designing and developing innovative power, monitoring and control solutions.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across the full development lifecycle, combining electronic hardware design, PCB development and embedded firmware.
You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary engineering team at an exciting stage of growth, with plenty of opportunity to influence new products while continuing to develop and improve an established product range.
The Role
Working alongside engineers across hardware, software, mechanical and electrical disciplines, your responsibilities will include:
- Electronic design of sensors and modules for multiplex bus systems
- Supporting and developing electronic hardware for off-grid products
- Analogue and digital circuit design
- Schematic capture and PCB layout
- Development of low-level embedded firmware
- PCB bring-up, testing and fault finding
- Designing PCBs incorporating sensitive analogue circuitry, ARM processors and power components
- Maintaining bills of materials and resolving component obsolescence issues
- Designing with EMC compliance in mind
- Developing firmware to interface with devices including SD cards, LCDs and Ethernet controllers
- Working with hardware interfaces including USB, I2C, SPI and CAN
- Supporting products from initial development through to manufacture
What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have at least five years' experience within an electronics design/development environment, along with a Degree or Master's Degree in Electronic Engineering.
Candidates with a Software Engineering degree and strong commercial electronic design experience will also be considered.
We’re particularly interested in experience with:
- Analogue and digital circuit design
- PCB design and layout
- ARM-based processors
- Embedded programming on ARM M-series processors
- Switch-mode power supply design, including step-up/down converters up to approximately 150W
- EMC-conscious electronic design
- Component-level testing and fault finding
- USB, I2C, SPI and CAN interfaces
- Practical electronic circuit building and basic wiring
It Would Be Beneficial If You Have Experience With:
- Altium
- Embedded Linux
- Linux device trees and adding new hardware devices
- Ethernet hardware and protocols
- RTOS
- Embedded firmware development
The Team
You’ll become part of an established multidisciplinary Engineering team covering electronic development, mechanical engineering, electrical design, controls, Linux, software and firmware.
It’s a collaborative environment where products are researched, designed and developed in-house, giving you exposure to considerably more than one small part of the engineering lifecycle.
About You
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving technical problems and getting hands-on with electronics.
You’ll have a positive approach, strong attention to detail and be comfortable collaborating with engineers from different disciplines. Good documentation and an appreciation for robust engineering processes are also important.
Why Apply?
You’ll be joining an established engineering business during an exciting period of growth, working on technology used across marine, vehicle and off-grid applications.
The company has a strong focus on sustainable and resilient energy solutions, with increasing development around hybrid renewable energy systems.
Alongside interesting technical challenges, you’ll receive a comprehensive employee benefits package including private healthcare and a range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing inside and outside of work.
