Electronics Test Technician

Location: Poole, Dorset

Salary: £35,000–£44,000 DOE + profit-related bonus

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, typically 8am–4pm

We’re recruiting for an Electronics Test Technician to join an established UK electronics manufacturer based in Poole.

This is a hands-on position working within a small engineering team, primarily supporting the manufacture, testing and development of electronic and audio products including microphones and headsets.

The role would suit an experienced Electronics Technician who enjoys practical work across testing, fault finding, repair, soldering and production support.

The role:

  • Test and inspect electronic products against specifications
  • Provide hands-on support to manufacturing and production
  • Diagnose and repair electronic faults
  • Carry out wiring and PCB-level repairs
  • Through-hole and SMT soldering
  • Use electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, spectrum analysers and audio analysers
  • Support prototype development
  • Develop and improve test procedures
  • Maintain factory and test equipment
  • Work in accordance with ESD procedures

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience working as an Electronics Technician, Test Technician, Production Technician or similar
  • Strong practical electronics testing and fault-finding experience
  • Confident using electronic test equipment
  • Good soldering skills, including through-hole and SMT
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing PCBs/electronic assemblies
  • Level 3 Electrical/Electronics qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Comfortable working within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Good problem-solving skills

Experience with acoustic testing or IPC 610/620 standards would be beneficial but isn’t essential.

Package:

  • £35,000–£44,000 salary depending on experience
  • Flexibility above £44,000 for an exceptional candidate
  • Profit-related bonus of approximately £200 per month
  • 20 days annual leave, increasing to 23 days after one year
  • 37.5-hour working week
