Technical Support Engineer – Farnborough

We’re recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer to join an established technology business in Farnborough.

This is a varied technical role supporting a mix of hardware, software, networking and Linux/Unix-based systems, including specialist camera technology and associated back-office systems.

The role

You’ll be responsible for:

• Installing and configuring hardware and software
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting technical faults
• Supporting Linux/Unix-based devices and systems
• Using Linux / shell commands to query and diagnose equipment
• Troubleshooting networking issues, including TCP/IP and network ports
• Supporting specialist/proprietary software and systems
• Investigating issues between remote devices and back-office systems
• Speaking directly with customers to resolve technical problems
• Producing clear technical documentation
• Escalating more complex issues where required

What we’re looking for

Ideally, you’ll have experience in Technical Support, Systems Support, Infrastructure Support or 2nd Line Support, with exposure to:

• Linux or Unix
• Shell / command-line troubleshooting
• Networking / TCP-IP / network ports
• Hardware and software installation/configuration
• Technical fault-finding
• Customer-facing support
• Technical documentation
