About the Role
We’re working with a well-established and growing company based in Hull and due to continued growth, they’re looking to bring in a Technical Support Engineer to strengthen their support team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with 1st line support experience who enjoys problem-solving, working directly with users, and developing their technical skillset in a fast-paced MSP environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing 1st line IT support across a varied client base (remote, phone & on-site)
- Troubleshooting issues across desktop, applications, networking, telecoms, and printing
- Supporting installations and rollouts of new IT solutions for clients
- Managing and progressing support tickets, keeping users updated throughout
- Collaborating with third-party vendors to resolve complex issues
- Contributing to improving client systems and overall IT efficiency
- Occasionally working outside standard hours to meet client needs
- Joining the on-call rota after initial onboarding period
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in a 1st line IT support or service desk role
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows environments and Microsoft 365
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WAN)
- Experience with switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies
- Awareness of cyber security best practices
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for client visits
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory & Group Policy
- Exposure to Hyper-V, Azure, or Remote Desktop Services
- Knowledge of VoIP systems or web hosting/DNS
- Familiarity with SonicWall or similar firewalls
- Experience delivering IT projects end-to-end
- Microsoft certifications (e.g. Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert)
- Exposure to Apple or Linux environments
