Senior Business Intelligence Developer
BI Developer – Power BI / SQL / Data Modelling - Nottingham (2 days per month on-site) - £65,000 + benefits
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior BI Developer to join our growing data team and take ownership of our business intelligence landscape. This is a pivotal role where you'll analyse current data structures, define future-state roadmaps, design robust data solutions, and deliver high-quality reporting to drive strategic decision-making across the organisation.
You'll play a key part in shaping how we manage and visualise data—working across data modelling, warehousing, and reporting to build a modern, insightful BI environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse existing data sources, reporting processes, and BI systems to identify improvements and opportunities.
- Develop and implement end-to-end BI solutions using Power BI, including dashboards, data models, and automated reporting.
- Design and maintain scalable data models, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines to support enterprise-wide analytics.
- Produce accurate and insightful financial data reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Create BI roadmaps, solution designs, and documentation to guide future data strategy.
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformations.
- Build and support reports using SSRS and other reporting tools.
- Collaborate with analysts, finance teams, and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver high-value insights.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong experience as a BI Developer or Senior BI Developer.
- Advanced proficiency with Power BI (data modelling, DAX, Power Query).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, and data design principles.
- Experience delivering financial reporting and working with complex datasets.
- Hands-on experience with SSRS.
- Ability to define BI roadmaps, produce solution designs, and lead BI improvements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
