Business Development Director (Public Sector)

Remote-first | £80,000 – £110,000 base + 10–15% bonus + annual profit share + 10% pension | EMI exit opportunity

We’re partnering with a boutique data analytics consultancy that has built a strong reputation delivering high-impact work across UK central government, with established engagements in departments such as DWP and HMRC.

Following continued growth, they are now seeking a Business Development Director to drive expansion into new government departments and unlock further strategic opportunities across the public sector.

This role is for a senior, commercially focused leader who will spearhead new client acquisition and cultivate relationships across departments such as the Home Office, Land Registry, DVLA, and other central government organisations that manage large volumes of sensitive citizen data.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth, values-driven consultancy at a pivotal moment in its journey, with a clear path to a life-changing EMI exit over the next few years.

The Opportunity

You’ll take ownership of expanding the consultancy’s footprint across central government—building new relationships, identifying opportunities, and shaping how departments approach complex, large-scale citizen data challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and establish new trusted relationships across central government departments, particularly outside existing core accounts.
  • Lead business development activity focused on winning new logos and expanding into departments such as the Home Office, Land Registry, DVLA, and similar organisations handling complex, sensitive citizen data.
  • Identify, shape, and win new engagements aligned to departmental priorities.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to design, scope, and position impactful solutions.
  • Champion the consultancy’s position as a strategic data partner across government.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven track record of winning new business within UK Central Government departments (essential) - experience limited to local authorities or wider public sector bodies alone is not sufficient.
  • Strong background in business development or sales within technology consulting (essential).
  • Experience selling or delivering solutions involving large-scale, sensitive citizen data within central government (highly desirable).
  • Existing senior relationships across central government, particularly in departments beyond DWP/HMRC.
  • Ability to translate data, cloud, AI, and digital capabilities into clear, value-led public sector outcomes.
  • Commercially astute, highly credible, and confident influencing senior stakeholders.
  • A natural relationship builder with a proactive, growth-oriented mindset.

This role is specifically suited to individuals who have already successfully grown and expanded central government accounts winning new logos and scaling relationships within major departments. We are not looking for candidates with only peripheral exposure; you will have a demonstrable track record of converting opportunities into revenue within UK central government

Why Join
