Web Developer

• Part-time: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.30am–2.30pm, including a 30-minute lunch break
• Hybrid: at least one day per week in the Witney office; Monday is the team’s core office day
• Salary: £27,000 per annum (£45,000 full-time equivalent), plus a performance incentive plan
• Applicants must be able to work in the UK without visa sponsorship

Our client

Our client is a marketing agency working with ambitious entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and growing SMEs. They act as an extension of their clients’ teams, and often as their entire marketing team, using digital marketing, automation and AI to help businesses grow.  They are expanding their in-house team and looking for a Web Developer to take ownership of the websites that support their clients’ marketing activity.

The role

You will build, maintain and improve WordPress websites across a portfolio of clients. Working closely with the Agency Director, SEO Specialist and Paid Media Specialist, you will make sure sites are fast, reliable, accessible and effective at generating enquiries.

You will also have the opportunity to work on the agency’s own tools, automations and AI projects. This is a hands-on role in a small team, so you will need to communicate confidently with colleagues and clients, including by phone or video call.

Website development and maintenance

• Building and improving WordPress sites using tools such as Avada/Fusion Builder, Divi, Elementor, ACF and Gravity Forms
• Adding and updating content produced by the wider team
• Improving site speed, Core Web Vitals, caching, asset loading and accessibility
• Managing hosting, DNS, staging environments, backups, security and updates
• Investigating bugs through error logs and implementing reliable fixes

SEO, tracking and integrations

• Implementing technical SEO recommendations, including changes to site architecture, structured data, redirects and indexability
• Managing GTM containers, dataLayer events, consent and enquiry tracking
• Building landing pages and enquiry journeys that reflect how each client sells
• Connecting websites with marketing platforms through APIs, webhooks and automation tools

Agency development

• Helping to build internal tools, automations and AI projects
• Using AI-assisted development tools to work efficiently while maintaining code quality and human oversight
• Scoping development work and providing realistic estimates for proposals
• Responding, within reason, to significant website performance or availability issues outside your usual hours on the rare occasions they arise

About you

Our client is looking for a conscientious developer who takes ownership of their work and enjoys being part of a small, supportive team. You will be organised enough to manage your workload within part-time hours, document your work and keep colleagues informed of progress.

You will ideally have:

• Strong WordPress development experience, preferably across multiple sites or within an agency
• Strong PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills, with a code-level understanding of WordPress
• Experience with template hierarchy, custom post types, hooks and ACF
• Practical experience with Avada/Fusion Builder, Divi or Elementor, and sound judgement about when to use a page builder or write code
• A track record of improving website speed and performance
• Experience with GTM and dataLayer tracking, plus enough technical SEO knowledge to work closely with an SEO specialist
• Experience connecting third-party platforms using APIs and webhooks
• Clear communication skills and confidence speaking directly with clients
• An interest in using automation and AI to improve how work is delivered
• Experience with automation platforms would be an advantage.
