Local authorities are responsible for helping children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to get to and from school. Over the last few years a combination of rising costs increased demand and budget cuts have led to increased pressures with over 80% of local authorities exceeding their school transport budget.

We’re working with a fast-growing software company who are on a mission to deliver positive change. They have created a cloud-based transport planning tool that helps local authorities to save money whilst ensuring a high quality of service for students and reducing carbon emissions. Having experienced exceptional growth and success across the UK market they are looking to expand overseas. They’re looking for an experienced Test Lead (automation) to join their growing team!

What skills you’ll be needing:

  • Significant experience of testing cloud software in Agile environments.
  • Experience of managing/mentoring/coaching automated test engineers.
  • Test types: functional, integration, stress, performance, security, accessibility.
  • Test tools: they work with Playwright but any experience of Cypress, Webdriver etc is fine.
  • Git, Jira, Confluence.
  • DevOps: TeamCity, Azure, GitHub.
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Any GIS or mapping experience/exposure would be highly desirable.

What you’ll be doing:

As Test Lead you will be responsible for improving the quality of their map-based/GIS software. Following agile development and deployment practices, you will lead a small team (1-2) writing automated tests to ensure their applications continue to operate and assist with product R&D. You will manage the release of new software through test, production and disaster recovery environments, co-ordinating staff activities from product development, management and support for their monthly release of software/data. They’re looking for someone who can analyse test results, understand how applications perform in different scenarios and how they make testing more efficient and effective.

The salary range is £60-70K and they offer flexible working hours (core hours of 10:00 – 15:00) fully remote working (UK) and matched pension contributions up to 6%.
