Electrical Engineering Apprentice
This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in vehicle construction, manufacturing and practical engineering to develop valuable skills while studying towards a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.
Role
Throughout the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be trained to:
- Read and understand basic electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Install electrical wiring looms and harnesses into emergency vehicles.
- Fit electrical components including switches, relays, fuse boxes, control modules and distribution systems.
- Install emergency warning equipment such as lighting, sirens and communication systems.
- Terminate and connect electrical wiring using approved techniques.
- Carry out electrical testing using appropriate equipment.
- Assist with diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults.
- Complete work in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions and quality standards.
- Learn how to use a range of hand and power tools safely.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Work closely with colleagues across production to ensure vehicles are completed to schedule.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical department.
Training
You will study at Kirklees College Engineering Centre, HD1 6AG one day a week throughout the duration of your apprenticeship.
