Head of Finance

This growing business supplies specialist equipment and services to customers in the UK and internationally. As part of a larger group with substantial financial resources they have invested heavily into training and technology to position themselves as market leaders within their sector.

As part of this investment in their future a new position of Head of Finance / FD Designate has been created to join the senior team and report into the Divisional MD on site and head office based Group CFO. The role will carry full responsibility for the site finance department, providing financial analysis to support decision making and delivering reports into the parent company. Success in this role would significantly raise your profile within the group and could likely lead to a Finance Director role in the next two years.

This opportunity would suit an ambitious candidate looking for a varied position in a growing £5 - £10m turnover company, you will be managing a small team and must possess the confidence and communication skills to liaise with senior managers and directors. The main duties will be:

  • Taking responsibility for the company’s finance function
  • Assisting with strategic planning and supporting investment decisions
  • Monitoring cashflow and financial transactions
  • Designing KPI’s and operational performance measures
  • Forecasting and business planning
  • Implementing cost savings and ensuring budgets are adhered to
  • Preparing the board pack
  • Monthly reporting and analysis on projects
  • Controlling stock to improve working capital
  • Improving systems and processes
  • Group reporting for the board

This position would suit an individual who is excited by having a role with variety and influence. Right from the start you will be expected to attend board meetings and be involved in decision making across all aspects of the business. An initial project will be to optimise their SAGE 200 system and ERP software, automating where possible so that accurate and timely information is produced efficiently. You will also have a team of two staff to develop and mentor to ensure all the transactional activities and routine finance duties are completed and the finance team can add value to ongoing projects.

The preferred candidate for this role would ideally be CIMA / ACCA or ACA part or fully qualified or QBE, with experience of a hands on finance role at a similar level, managing a team and strong organisational / planning skills.
