About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Google Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable cloud platforms, automating everything possible, and working closely with both engineering and business stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in delivering a strategic platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) that supports the organisation’s long-term digital vision. As part of a high-performing cloud team, you’ll help shape the platform roadmap, introduce new cloud capabilities, and design enterprise-grade solutions that are secure, resilient, and cost-efficient. This is an end-to-end engineering role with real ownership and impact.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to and help shape the GCP cloud strategy and technology roadmap
- Identify opportunities to leverage new GCP features and managed services
- Design, build, and release secure, scalable, enterprise-class cloud solutions
- Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and business stakeholders
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines
- Ensure services are resilient, highly available, and optimised for performance and cost
- Operate effectively within an enterprise governance and security framework
Qualifications
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Groovy
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud SDK for automation and API integration
- Proven experience delivering Infrastructure as Code using Terraform / Terraform Cloud
- CI/CD pipeline experience, including working with and extending Jenkins
- Solid practical experience with Kubernetes
- Experience across a broad range of GCP services
- Source control using Git / GitHub
- Comfortable working with and processing JSON and YAML
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles and best practices
- GCP Associate Cloud Engineer certification (or equivalent practical experience)
Required Skills
- Programming experience in Go (Golang)
- Experience with modern CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, Backstage, or Harness
- GCP Professional-level certifications (Cloud Architect, DevOps Engineer, Network Engineer, or Security Engineer)
- AWS Professional certifications (Security or Advanced Networking)
- Azure DevOps Engineer certification
- Experience with service mesh technologies (preferably Istio)
