IT Support Assistant

AJ Chambers are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IT Support Assistant to join our dynamic team.

As the IT Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing day-to-day technical support to colleagues, maintaining IT systems and equipment, assisting with user issues, and helping to ensure the smooth and secure operation of the company's technology environment.

Duties:

• Adhoc administration duties and other IT-related tasks as required.

• Ensure IT support activities are carried out in line with company policies, data protection requirements and information security best practices.

• Provide basic training and guidance to colleagues on IT systems, software and good technology practices.

• Assist with the rollout, testing and implementation of new software, hardware and IT systems across the business when required.

• Identify recurring technical issues and suggest improvements that could enhance system reliability, security and the user experience.

• Work with external IT providers and suppliers when specialist support is required, helping to communicate issues and coordinate resolutions.

• Assist with data backups, recovery procedures and general business continuity activities where required.

• Support the implementation and maintenance of IT security procedures, including password management, access controls, device security and user awareness.

• Assist with routine system updates, software installations, security updates and other IT maintenance activities.

• Help maintain accurate records of IT assets, equipment allocations, software licences, user accounts and system documentation.

• Assist with the maintenance of the company's IT systems, networks and other technology infrastructure.

• Troubleshoot common technical issues, diagnose faults and provide clear, user-friendly guidance to colleagues.

• Support the administration and maintenance of Microsoft 365 applications, user accounts, shared mailboxes, Teams and other business applications.

• Assist with the on-boarding and off-boarding of employees, including setting up user accounts, permissions, equipment and access to relevant systems.

• Set up, configure and maintain laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile devices, printers and other IT equipment for new and existing employees.

• Log, monitor and update IT support requests, ensuring issues are tracked through to resolution and escalated where appropriate.

• Provide first-line IT support to employees, responding to hardware, software, network, email and access-related queries in a timely and professional manner.

Key Skills:

Previous experience in an IT support, helpdesk or similar role is preferred but not essential. Full training will be provided.

• Good understanding of common hardware, software, Microsoft 365 and general IT systems an advantage.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues logically and efficiently.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple support requests.

• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a patient and helpful approach to supporting non-technical users.

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

• Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.

• Understanding of data protection, information security and good IT security practices.

• Willingness to learn new technologies, systems and processes.
