Data Analyst (Financial Crime) - 1 day in the office per week

ALF are proud to be exclusively partnering with a fast-growing FinTech business in the Manchester area to appoint an Advanced Data Analyst to join their Financial Crime team.

This position is designed for a technically strong Data Analyst who enjoys working with complex datasets, automation, and system logic — and wants to apply those skills to building, improving, and scaling the Financial Crime Department.

You will sit within the Senior Management function of the Financial Crime department, owning the full lifecycle of data-driven rule design and optimisation that directly protects the business and its customers.

Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary up to £50K
  • Remote working – 1 day in the office (Salford)
  • Flexible work life culture
  • 23 days holiday plus bank holidays (increasing with years of service, plus additional day for your birthday and wellbeing)
  • Free parking for the day you are in the office
  • EAP and Virtual GP

The Role:

  • Design, build, and implement new transaction monitoring and fraud detection rules across core systems (SQL / Java)
  • Analyse large, raw datasets to identify emerging fraud and financial crime typologies
  • Use BI and advanced analytics tools to create insight-led recommendations for improving financial crime controls
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of rule changes — from proposal and approval through to testing, deployment, and performance monitoring
  • Partner closely with Data, Engineering, and Financial Crime stakeholders, challenging assumptions and driving evidence-based decision making
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert during incidents, supporting investigations and system improvements
  • Contribute to the upskilling and technical development of the wider Financial Crime function

Person:

  • Advanced Data Analyst with strong experience working in regulated, fintech, fraud, or financial crime environments
  • Strong SQL skills (essential) with experience building or maintaining rule-based or logic-driven systems
  • Experience using BI and analytics tools to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Strong understanding of financial crime, fraud, or transaction monitoring frameworks
  • Exposure to FinTech or digital financial services environments is highly desirable
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
