BI Developer

A growing UK-based organisation is looking for a technically strong Power BI Developer to join its central BI function, supporting business-critical financial and operational reporting.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable reporting solutions, developing robust semantic models, and working closely with stakeholders to turn business requirements into meaningful insight. The position offers a strong mix of hands-on Power BI development, data modelling, and analytical problem-solving.

Key Requirements
  • Strong commercial experience developing Power BI reports and semantic models
  • Advanced Power BI and DAX expertise
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, validation, and analysis
  • Strong understanding of star schema and BI data modelling best practices
  • Experience working with financial or KPI-driven reporting environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot reporting, data model, and visualisation issues independently
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Power BI Service, deployment, workspace management, governance, and security
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and upstream data structures
  • Exposure to finance would be great, but not essential
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and reports
  • Develop complex DAX calculations and reporting logic
  • Create scalable and reusable reporting structures
  • Work directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions
  • Collaborate with data engineers and wider technical teams
  • Use SQL for source data validation and troubleshooting
  • Analyse financial and operational performance data
  • Improve reporting standards, data quality, and BI development processes
  • Maintain documentation across reports, datasets, and transformation logic
