Senior AI Research Scientist (m/f/d)

AMLZ Recruiting is the executive search brand of AMLZ GmbH, headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany. We specialize in placing exceptional professionals and executives with leading companies worldwide. Backed by a global network and deep industry expertise, we connect top talent with innovative organizations across a wide range of sectors.

Our client is a globally operating advanced-intelligence R&D company near Shanghai, China. Their mission is to push the boundaries of modern AI by uniting large-scale engineering with frontier research. The organization brings together international teams working across foundation models, multi-agent systems, intelligent automation, and high-performance computing, building platforms designed for real-world scale from day one.

It is one of the few environments where cutting-edge AI research can transition into full industrial deployment within months - not years. With access to ambitious projects, significant compute resources, and a fast-moving R&D culture, the company provides a setting where scientists and engineers can explore bold ideas and see them translated into high-impact applications across multiple domains.

This role begins in March 2026 with a remote-first setup. The initial phase is fully remote to align goals and establish research workflows. After that, on-site collaboration in China is optional and arranged only by mutual preference. Compensation is globally competitive, with generous housing and participation allowances for any agreed on-site involvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct applied research on LLMs, multimodal models, and multi-agent architectures.

• Develop efficient, robust algorithms for reasoning, prediction, and optimization.

• Build experimentation frameworks for alignment, evaluation, and human/AI feedback loops.

• Design training pipelines for small- and large-scale model development.

• Collaborate with engineering to deploy models in high-performance, production environments.

• Publish internal technical notes or contribute to external research when appropriate.

• Explore methods in synthetic data generation, foundation-model adaptation, and model compression.

Your Profile

• Ideally holding a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics (or related quantitative field), or equivalent industry research experience.

• Ideally 3+ years in machine learning/deep learning/LLMs or adjacent advanced AI research.

• Proficient in Python; experience with PyTorch or JAX.

• Understanding of reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems, probabilistic/Bayesian methods, or large-scale training.

• Curiosity-driven mindset, strong problem solving, and the ability to work cross-functionally.

• English is the working language; additional languages are a plus.

We Offer

• Remote-first setup with flexible relocation options by mutual agreement.

• Competitive global compensation package.

• Housing and family allowances for any agreed on-site participation.

• Access to advanced compute (GPU clusters, distributed training systems).

• Opportunity to work on frontier AI with real-world impact in a fast-moving environment.

• A multilingual, multicultural team across Europe and Asia.
