Operational Data Analyst

NatWest is a major UK retail bank, providing every day banking services to over 19 million customers. The banks expertise and services span retail, commercial and private banking.

AMS is a global workforce solutions partner committed to creating inclusive, dynamic, and future-ready workplaces. We help organisations adapt, grow, and thrive in an ever-evolving world by building, shaping, and optimising diverse talent strategies.

We partner with NatWest to deliver their contingent recruitment processes. Acting as an extension of their recruitment teams, we connect them with skilled interim and temporary professionals, fostering workplaces where everyone can contribute and succeed.

On behalf of NatWest, we are looking for an Operational Data Analyst for an initial 6-month contract, based in Edinburgh, London or Manchester (with hybrid working).

Purpose of the role

The Operational Data Analyst will support a large-scale regulatory remediation programme, with a strong focus on operational data accuracy, population management, and query resolution. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role, working closely with programme and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality data underpins effective decision-making and delivery.

This role is operational and data-focused in nature and is not a traditional Business Analyst position.

What you'll do

  • Manage and process operational queries relating to population data, ensuring accurate triage and timely resolution.
  • Maintain and improve the accuracy of large customer population datasets.
  • Triage and respond to queries via a shared mailbox, directing requests to the appropriate teams or SMEs where required.
  • Identify root causes of data issues and support sustainable resolutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Programme teams, Relationship Directors and business stakeholders.
  • Update population data in line with remediation outcomes and stakeholder feedback.
  • Support programme and executive reporting through the provision of accurate, high-quality data.

The Skills you'll need

  • Strong experience in operational data handling and analysis.
  • Ability to interpret and work with data outputs from tools such as Power BI.
  • Strong hands-on Excel skills, including pivot tables, used for managing and analysing large operational datasets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong data accuracy mindset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders.
  • Experience working within a regulated or financial services environment is desirable.
  • Awareness of financial crime or regulatory programmes is beneficial but not essential.

Why Natwest

There are plenty of reasons why NatWest is a great place to work in a temporary job; they are becoming a simpler Bank, which is more integrated and technology driven. You'll be helping to build a sustainable bank, committed to helping customers to succeed.

We will only accept workers operating via an Umbrella or PAYE engagement model.
