Senior Infrastructure Engineer

The role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive individual to play a key role in supporting the ANS infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the availability and security of critical components across the ANS platform.

Working closely with the wider Infrastructure and Security Operations Centre (SoC) teams, the role involves managing patching schedules, performing firmware upgrades, and collaborating with vendors to ensure seamless interoperability and support across the technology stack.

This position also serves as an escalation point for both the Infrastructure team and other technical teams, providing subject matter expertise in VMware, storage, and broader infrastructure technologies. The successful candidate will work alongside Team Leaders and Architects to help deliver our product roadmap and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What will I be doing?

  • Work to ensure conformtiy to public sector infrastructure requirements are met.
  • Work in conjunction with our SoC team to develop and maintain platform security baselines
  • Monitor, diagnose and resolve significant problems within the ANS infrastructure
  • Be an escalation point for team members and the support teams offering technical expertise in virtualization, compute hardware and storage
  • Collaborate and work with other technical teams to provide industry leading support to our customers
  • Responsible for creating high quality documentation
  • Proactively work to identify areas of improvement in the platform
  • Effectively deliver project milestones
  • Responsible for the generation of LLD from HLD
  • Ensure our infrastructure is up to date by planning & performing patching and firmware upgrades
  • Working with vendors to raise escalations and troubleshoot issues
  • Produce and maintain high quality technical documentation
  • Out-of-hours work on core systems and joining the on-call rota
  • Leading small & medium projects, and working on large scale projects
  • Deliver working within ANS change control, CAB and incident management
  • Plan, prepare and deliver for upcoming maintenance works.

What will I bring to the role?

  • Exposure to secure architechture design and implementation
  • Experience with the deployment and management Carbon Black or other EDR solutions across cloud infrastructure
  • Siginficant previous experience as an infrastructure engineer working on a large scale enterprise or multi-tenant environment
  • VMware 7.0+ in (Experience with hosting provider specific technologies like Auto deploy, VVOLs or multi-site topologies is a bonus)
  • Significant experience troubleshooting and analysing complex failures
  • Operational experience of NSX 3.0+
  • Scripting abilities in Powershell and PowerCLI
  • Experience with Cisco UCS or other enterprise blade systems
  • Significant Experience with Storage Technologies (HPE 3PAR, Nimble, Dell Compellent)
  • Experience with FC storage networking
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring platforms
  • Experience in successfully leading and delivering large scale projects
  • Ability to produce and maintain Low Level Design Documentation
