Technical Lead

Manchester/Hybrid

up to £100k + bonus + benefits

A leading organisation within the specialty insurance and reinsurance sector is looking for a Technical Lead to design and deliver modern, cloud-based digital underwriting solutions.

You'll lead the development of scalable, secure platforms on Microsoft Azure, working closely with global technology teams, actuaries, and business stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role combining solution design, coding, mentoring, and technical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Lead design and development of cloud-native solutions for digital underwriting use cases
Build and maintain high-quality applications using TypeScript
Design and manage solutions on Azure, including App Services, Functions, and containers (AKS)
Use Databricks to support data modelling, analytics, and actuarial insights
Set up and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and lead technical design sessions
Apply cloud security best practices within a regulated insurance environment

Key Skills

Strong commercial software development experience with technical leadership responsibility
Advanced TypeScript skills and solid Azure expertise
Experience with containers, CI/CD, and data platforms such as Databricks
Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
