Location: Stratford - 60% onsite
Contract: 12 months
Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35 - Umbrella)
Hours: 35 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to support major rail projects, managing engineering activities across design, construction, testing and commissioning.

The successful candidate will have a strong Telecoms engineering background and experience working within a high-speed rail (NRHS) environment.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering activities from design through to construction, testing and commissioning.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant rail standards, specifications, procedures and legislation.
  • Manage and review the work of designers, consultants and contractors.
  • Carry out design and construction reviews to ensure work is safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Monitor project delivery against cost, programme, quality and safety requirements.
  • Identify and manage technical and project risks using appropriate risk assessment techniques.
  • Support HAZOP and other technical risk assessment activities where required.
  • Monitor contractors and specialist consultants to ensure required safety, environmental and quality standards are met.
  • Arrange and support audits covering safety, environment, quality, design, construction, testing and commissioning.
  • Provide engineering advice and technical support throughout construction activities.
  • Liaise with project teams, contractors, consultants, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure environmental requirements are considered and managed throughout the project.
  • Take responsibility for engineering activities on allocated projects.


About You

We are looking for a Project Engineer who has:

  • Proven experience working as a Project Engineer within rail or a similar regulated engineering environment.
  • A strong Telecoms engineering background.
  • Experience working within NRHS / high-speed rail projects.
  • Experience managing engineering activities across design and construction.
  • Good understanding of risk management, design assurance and technical compliance.
  • Experience managing or monitoring contractors and engineering consultants.
  • Knowledge of testing and commissioning activities.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, cost and programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Telecoms Project Engineer with high-speed rail experience to join a major rail programme and play a key role in the successful delivery of engineering projects.
