End Point Software Application Packager / Software Rationalisation and Packaging Specialist / Lead Software Application Packager - OUTSIDE IR35
My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented End Point Software Application Packager to lead software rationalisation and packaging across enterprise desktop environments. You will be instrumental in standardising software deployments, reducing redundancy, and optimising application delivery for both physical and virtual platforms.
In this role, you will analyse application portfolios, consolidate software usage, and package applications using industry-standard tools such as WiX Toolset, InstallShield, AdminStudio, and Advanced Installer. You'll ensure compatibility with Windows OS and virtual environments (e.g., VDI), manage dependencies, and resolve conflicts during packaging. Strong scripting and automation capabilities using PowerShell, Numecent, SCCM, and Microsoft Intune are highly desirable.
You'll collaborate with application owners, developers, system administrators, and security teams to meet compliance, performance, and security standards. The role also involves creating robust documentation and delivering packaging best practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain software packages for deployment across multiple platforms (Windows, VDI).
- Use packaging tools like WiX Toolset, InstallShield, Advanced Installer, or AdminStudio to build installation packages for desktop and server applications.
- Test, validate, and troubleshoot software packages to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Automate the creation of application packages where possible, using scripts or deployment tools like Numecent, SCCM, Intune.
- Develop, test, and deploy MSI and EXE packages for enterprise environments
- Ensure software compatibility with enterprise OS builds
- Troubleshoot package-related issues and provide expert support
- Maintain accurate documentation and track deployment progress
- Optimise and streamline packaging processes for efficiency and scalability
Requirements:
- Proven experience in software packaging for enterprise desktop environments
- Strong knowledge of SCCM, Intune, and scripting for automation
- Familiarity with OS-level compatibility, software lifecycle, and deployment pipelines
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
