Overview

A specialist recruitment business focused on Engineering, Technology and Digital talent is seeking an ambitious Recruitment Consultant to join its high-performing team in Manchester.

The business partners with a wide range of UK-based and international clients, supporting hiring across software, embedded systems, electronics, mechanical engineering, product, and wider technical disciplines. The approach is consultative and relationship-led, built on long-term partnerships rather than transactional placements.

This opportunity is suited to either:

  • A consultant with at least 6 months’ recruitment experience looking to step into a more progressive, high-support environment, or
  • An early-stage senior/lead consultant ready to build and own a desk, with potential to develop a small team over time

The Opportunity

The successful individual will join a collaborative, values-driven team where quality, integrity, and long-term success are prioritised over short-term volume.

They will be given full autonomy to develop their own desk within either the Engineering or Technology markets, with clear support from senior leadership and direct access to experienced mentors.

There is also a strong pathway for progression into team leadership, with the opportunity to shape a division, develop consultants beneath them, and become a key right-hand figure within the business.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Develop and win new business within Engineering or Technology markets
  • Build long-term relationships with hiring managers, engineering leads, and technical stakeholders
  • Act as a consultative partner, advising clients on market conditions, hiring strategy, and talent availability

Candidate Delivery

  • Source and engage high-quality candidates across specialist technical disciplines
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes from initial engagement through to offer and placement
  • Build and maintain strong talent pipelines within niche engineering and tech verticals

Market Expertise

  • Develop deep understanding of technical markets such as software, embedded systems, electronics, mechanical and product roles
  • Identify hiring trends, salary insights, and emerging skill demands
  • Provide insight-led recommendations to clients and candidates

Leadership (if applicable)

  • Support and mentor junior consultants as the desk/team grows
  • Contribute to training, development, and performance culture within the business
  • Take ownership of a defined vertical with increasing strategic responsibility

Candidate Profile

This role suits individuals who are commercially capable but operate with a measured, relationship-first approach rather than aggressive sales tactics. The business values intelligence, humility, and consistency over ego or volume-driven behaviour.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience in recruitment
  • Proven ability to win business (not purely delivery-focused)
  • Experience managing the full recruitment lifecycle

  • Resilient, self-motivated, and comfortable working autonomously

  • Early-stage leadership experience or readiness to step into a team lead role
  • Interest in technical markets such as software, electronics, embedded systems, or product roles
  • Background in sport (particularly team sports) is viewed as a strong indicator of fit
