Mid-Level Azure DevOps Engineer
AVAMAE is a UK‐based software engineering consultancy specialising in bespoke web, mobile, and cloud‐based systems. We work with clients who have genuinely complex problems—often where off‐the‐shelf platforms fall short—and we build long‐term, maintainable solutions rather than quick technical fixes.
We are engineering‐led, strongly delivery‐focused, and ISO‐certified (including ISO 27001). Our teams work closely with clients, taking responsibility not just for building software, but for how it is delivered, operated, and evolved over time.
About the roleAs a Mid‐Level Azure DevOps Engineer, you’ll take ownership of delivery pipelines and cloud infrastructure across multiple AVAMAE projects. You’ll be trusted to design solutions, improve reliability, and work directly with developers to make delivery safer and faster.
This role suits someone who is comfortable operating independently but still wants to grow towards senior or platform‐level responsibility.
What you’ll be doing- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
- Provision and manage Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or Bicep), the Azure Portal, and command-line tools.
- Support containerised workloads including AKS.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting in Azure.
- Work directly with engineering teams to improve delivery practices and deployment confidence.
- Troubleshoot production and non‐production issues.
- Contribute to shared infrastructure patterns and internal tooling.
Essential experience
- Strong hands‐on experience as a DevOps engineer working primarily in Azure.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of Azure fundamentals (compute, networking, storage, identity).
- Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes / AKS in production.
- Strong working knowledge of Git and modern branching / PR workflows.
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting in Azure environments.
- Comfortable scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Azure certifications (e.g. AZ‐400), though real‐world experience matters more.
Nice to have
- Experience with AWS or GCP alongside Azure.
- DevSecOps experience (security scanning, secrets management, policy enforcement).
- Familiarity with .NET and React frameworks
- Experience working in a consultancy or multi‐client environment.
- Engineers are trusted to make decisions and explain trade‐offs clearly.
- DevOps is embedded into delivery, not treated as a separate function.
- We value clarity, documentation, and sustainability over heroics.
- You’ll work on systems that matter to clients and be involved in discussions about how they evolve.
- Work on genuinely interesting, non‐trivial client systems.
- Influence how cloud and DevOps practices evolve across the company.
- A pragmatic engineering culture that values quality over hype.
- Competitive salary, flexible working, and long‐term career development.
