SALARY: £30,000 - £33,500 per annum (depending on experience) Benefits
LOCATION: Hybrid Working with your time split working from home and the office in Bedford, Bedfordshire
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week.Flexible Working Hours, with the core hours being 10am – 3pm

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a GIS Land Analyst / Geospatial Specialist / GIS Analyst who is highly motivated and experienced with proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, database management, and spatial analysis techniques.
Working as a GIS Land Analyst / Geospatial Specialist / GIS Analyst you will be integral to the company’s overall operations and services, with the opportunity to lead complex development projects with varying project values of £250k to £25m, through the planning process.
As a GIS Land Analyst / Geospatial Specialist / GIS Analyst you will play a key role in identifying suitable land for development using GIS tools. The role involves delivering high-quality feasibility studies, producing well-structured reports, and presenting findings to clients.
You will also provide GIS support to the team, maintain accurate datasets, and ensure best practices is followed across all GIS-related work.

DUTIES
Your duties as a GIS Land Analyst / Geospatial Specialist / GIS Analyst will include:
- Maintain and develop the company’s GIS database, ensuring data is accurate, up to date, and effectively supports land identification
- Lead GIS-based feasibility studies at RIBA Stage 0, ensuring reports are delivered on time and meet client objectives, under the supervision of the Senior Planning Manager
- Produce clear, professional, and well-structured feasibility reports tailored to each client’s needs
- Present findings to clients confidently, providing well-prepared presentations that support informed decision-making
- Collaborate closely with clients to understand their objectives and provide GIS insights that add value to projects
- Identify gaps in the market to support clients
- Provide day-to-day GIS support to the planning team, ensuring requests are managed efficiently and effectively
- Organise and deliver GIS training sessions to keep the planning team up to date with best practices, planning policy and new developments
- Manage relationships with GIS software and data providers to ensure tools are used effectively and remain fit for purpose
- Stay up to date with new GIS technologies and industry innovations, recommending improvements, where beneficial
- Collaborate with the environmental team to assess and identify suitable land for development
- Ensure all GIS-related tasks are completed to a high standard, on time, and in line with company and client expectations
- Function as the point of contact for land agents, assisting in the acquisition of land and working to secure sites in preparation for handover to the planning team
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science/Software Engineering, Environmental Science or another related field, with 2:1 or above or equivalent
- Previous commercial experience, preferably within a private GIS consultancy or a planning or developer environment
- Membership of The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) is preferable but not essential
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, database management, and spatial analysis techniques
- Strong ability to analyse spatial data and interpret results to form reports and present findings
- A full UK driving license, with a willingness to travel to site visits across the UK
