SALARY:
Software Asset Management Lead: £45,427 per annum in Croydon / £41,224 per annum outside London
IT Asset Manager: £51,402 per annum in Croydon / £47,084 per annum outside London
LOCATION: Croydon, South London
Candidates may also choose to be based at another office where this is more convenient or closer to home: Nottingham, East Midlands or Plymouth, South West
JOB TYPE: Full-Time and Part-Time, Permanent Hours Available
WORKING HOURS: Minimum 30 hours per week for part-time appointments. Where it can be accommodated, a non-contractual home-working arrangement applies, with a minimum of 60% of working time expected in the office
JOB OVERVIEW
This is an excellent opportunity for a Software Asset Management Lead / IT Asset Manager to support effective control of software licences, entitlements, usage, renewals and IT assets within a large technology environment.
The Software Asset Management Lead / IT Asset Manager will use tools including Snow, Excel and Power BI to analyse licence, entitlement, usage and inventory data, identify compliance risks and optimisation opportunities, and provide clear insight to stakeholders.
At lead level, the Software Asset Management Lead / IT Asset Manager will strengthen SAM controls, lead effective licence position activity for high-risk vendors, support decisions and coach colleagues.
The work involves collaboration with commercial, finance, architecture, security, product, service, supplier and technical teams, with occasional travel for the lead-level post.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Software Asset Management Lead / IT Asset Manager include:
- Asset Lifecycle Governance: Manage software and IT assets, licences, agreements, entitlements and usage data across their lifecycle
- Licensing and Compliance: Interpret licence agreements, validate effective licence positions, support audits and identify compliance risks and remediation actions
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Use Snow, Excel, Power BI and supporting data sources to analyse inventory, entitlement and usage information and produce clear reports
- Optimisation and Cost Control: Identify unused, unassigned, unapproved or high-risk software and support reharvesting, rationalisation, renewals and value-for-money decisions
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work across commercial, finance, architecture, security, product, service, EUX, suppliers and technical teams to improve software control
- Software Governance: Support procurement, onboarding, deployment, change, decommissioning, Approved Software Register activity and continual service improvement
- Leadership and Development: Coach colleagues, contribute to governance forums and support a professional, inclusive and customer-focused team culture
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management and the software licence lifecycle, including entitlement, deployment, usage, renewal, optimisation and audit activity
- Experience using SAM and reporting tools such as Snow, Excel and Power BI to analyse complex licence, entitlement, usage and inventory data
- Recognised Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management qualification, such as CSAM, ITAM Foundation or equivalent
- ITIL Fundration or equivalent practical service management experience
- Experience interpreting licence agreements, validating effective licence positions and identifying compliance risks and opportunities
- Experience producing insight and recommendations for senior stakeholders and contributing to audit, risk, assurance or security governance
- Experience collaborating across commercial, finance, architecture, service, security, supplier and technical teams and embedding continual service improvement
- Experience coaching or developing others and building trusted stakeholder relationships
- For the lead-level post: strong SAM/ITAM lifecycle knowledge, experience leading SAM activity, Tier 1 licence management, DDaT/GDS Asset and Configuration Management knowledge, SaaS, cloud consumption and FinOps understanding, plus a track record of delivering savings and risk remediation
