IT Technical Architect

TECHNICAL ARCHITECT - BELFAST An outstanding professional services firm is hiring a Technical Architect for their growing team in Belfast. The Technical Architect will be closely involved in the delivery of projects and programmes supporting the IT Strategy.  You will work on and assist with implementing and designing new systems and technologies introduced into the firm, along with enhancements and technological improvements to our existing systems and services.  New systems would be designed, implemented, documented and then ultimately handed over for support and maintenance purposes, whilst ensuring that IT systems meet the required high standards in the areas of non-functional requirements, particularly availability, capacity, performance, security and governance.The role involves:           
  • Provide detailed TA expertise to support the delivery of projects, define and develop plans for the existing infrastructure, applications and architecture
  • Ensure the business is expertly advised on technology decisions, explaining the impact of potential changes on current and future state architecture
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders in the IT function
  • Liaise with external specialists and supervise their activities to ensure required strategic and technical outcomes are achieved and IT standards are met
  • Designs for any new technology solution requirements
  • Work with BA, infrastructure and PM teams to ensure that the design is implemented as planned and commissioned into service accordingly.
  • Working with BA team, requirements so that solution options that are recommended provide the best fit against requirements and for the business
  • Creating solution options and architectures that align to the firm standards and IT strategy
  • Performing the design authority role on projects ensuring that the detailed designs and solutions delivered align to the agreed solution architecture; managing and resolving any design issues as they arise
  • In conjunction with the 3rd line technical teams, quickly resolve any technical design issues that may arise during the development lifecycle
  • Keep up-to-date with the developments in new technology within the relevant industry sector
  • Ensure the architecture framework is well documented, understood and accepted
  • Support IT and business resources to drive projects to completion.
Experience and Skills:- Ideally, you will demonstrate:
  • Advanced technical knowledge enabling good design decisions, offering ability to zoom out and assess matters objectively and operate proactively  
  • Experience of documenting technical expertise of designs and specification of software and hardware solutions, systems or products across an entire infrastructure
  • An enthusiastic approach to change and continuous improvement, aptitude and confidence to challenge / change existing practices, drive implementation of new standards & processes
  • Ability to influence others and work in a consultative manner, solve technical & business issues
  • A detailed understanding of infrastructure, application and data concepts
  • Has worked with project teams following an approved project methodology such as Prince2
Technical Knowledge:
  • Advanced server configuration design and implementation
  • Citrix experience
  • Automated creation and distribution of applications and operating systems
  • Networking technologies and topologies
  • Remote access solutions for example Citrix, RDS, VPN, Direct Access
  • Storage technologies
  • Architecture and configuration of messaging services
  • Knowledge of the application of security controls and procedures in a complex multi-site enterprise
  • Service integration (SaaS and cloud integration)
Technical Skills:
  • ITIL foundation qualified (or above)
  • Good communicator
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills following a methodical approach
  • Ability to form good relationships with both technical and non-technical personnel and also 3rd parties
  • Ability to adapt and prioritise and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Wide knowledge of business applications and underlying technologies together with general knowledge of the changing world of technology
  • Ability to gather and assimilate information
