Accelero are supporting a leading global client is building a brand‐new Mobile Innovation Squad, which will be focused on elevating and modernising the mobile app experience for millions of users worldwide. This team will also play a crucial role in strengthening the backend web and API layer that powers the mobile experience, ensuring seamless integration, performance, and scalability across platforms.

🌟 The Role

As the Technical Lead, you’ll design and deliver solutions that balance strong mobile user experiences with robust, scalable backend engineering. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, QAs, fellow engineers, and delivery partners to modernise a major digital landscape, ensuring mobile and web services work together cohesively.

💡 What You’ll Be Doing

• Build high‐quality, scalable mobile features alongside RESTful APIs and backend services
• Lead on architectural decisions across both mobile and service‐layer components
• Ensure tight integration between mobile apps and the supporting API ecosystem
• Drive engineering excellence through testing, code reviews, observability, and deployment practices
• Collaborate with QA on end‐to‐end testing strategies across mobile and API layers
• Proactively diagnose and resolve system‐level and cross‐platform issues
• Mentor engineers across both mobile and backend disciplines
• Champion secure coding and support responses to mobile and API security concerns
• Communicate effectively with technical and non‐technical stakeholders to ensure alignment

🛠️ What You’ll Bring

Mobile Engineering:

• Proven hands‐on experience building mobile apps (native or hybrid)
• Either Swift / Objective‐C (iOS) and/or Kotlin / Java (Android)
• Experience with React Native or similar cross‐platform frameworks

Web/API & Backend Engineering:

• Strong experience building, consuming, and documenting REST APIs
• Solid grounding in JavaScript, Java, PHP, C#, or .NET for backend development
• Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and modern cloud practices
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD workflows

Engineering & Architecture:

• Strong grasp of modern design patterns and hexagonal architecture
• Ability to design systems that balance mobile performance with backend scalability
• Experience with feature toggles, A/B testing, and release strategies
• Awareness of secure coding and common vulnerability patterns
• Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts
