Infrastructure Automation Engineer

I am recruiting for an Infrastructure Automation Engineer Lead to work on a hybrid basis - 3 days in London, 2 days remote.

The role falls inside IR35 so you will have to work through an umbrella company for the duration of the contract.

I am looking for a team lead who can drive automation and standardisation of server and cloud environment provisioning and operations through Infrastructure as Code, rather than relying on manual processes.

This initiative is still at an early stage. Therefore, the role requires someone who can define the direction for automation and standardisation, rather than simply implementing based on an already established approach. The candidate should be able to design and promote the operating model across the organisation.

Experience building infrastructure standardisation and automation frameworks from the ground up is particularly important. The ideal candidate should not only have strong technical implementation skills, but also be able to lead the definition of best practices and governance.

The client is currently considering the introduction of a cloud-native operating model using Kubernetes and Terraform, so practical experience with these technologies is highly desirable and close to essential.

The role is not for a general engineer. We are looking for a technical leader who can define the infrastructure automation strategy and lead technology selection, standardisation, and the establishment of the operating model.
