They offer a huge range of additional services, such as IT spares and logistics throughout the UK, as well as datacentre and office relocations, configuration and build, bonded stock, engineers and project managers along with their hardware specialist IT brokerage service.

The Role

The MPS (Managed Printer Services) Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of MPS projects and business as usual BAU (Business as Usual) activities, ensuring that all tasks are performed efficiently and to the highest standards.

This role includes coordinating project support for PDI initiatives, which involves assisting project managers with planning and execution, managing scheduling and logistics, and facilitating onsite coordination for print device deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support – PDI:

  • Support project managers in the planning and execution of PDI (Pre Delivery Inspections) projects.
  • Assist with scheduling, logistics, and onsite coordination for print device deployments.
  • Compile and maintain detailed build documents for device configuration and installations.
  • Ensure timely delivery, setup, and testing of devices according to project plans.

BAU MPS Operations:

  • Prepare and submit customer quotes for BAU print work, including new devices, consumables, and services.
  • Coordinate printer swaps, including organising return of old devices and delivery of replacements (if required).
  • Liaise with customers to schedule service work, installations, and returns with minimal disruption.
  • Maintain records of BAU activities, ensuring updates to asset and warehouse systems.

Printer Builds & Configuration:

  • Build, configure, and test printers and multifunction devices in accordance with client requirements.
  • Install appropriate drivers, firmware, and ensure network readiness prior to deployment.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure consistency and quality in all device builds.
  • Provide support to the Configuration department with other projects and BAU activity wherever possible and required (including laptops and other types of devices).

Stock, Documentation & Process Management:

  • Compile and support updating build and configuration documentation for all MPS devices.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for MPS/PDI tasks.
  • Provide feedback on process improvements to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure stock is appropriately handled in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience with PDI and MPS devices
  • Proven experience within Configuration and/or high-value goods environment (e.g. technology or electronics).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage across all levels of staff and customers.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and bonded warehouse controls.
  • Knowledge of bonded warehouse compliance and documentation processes.
