C++ Developer
Join a globally recognised technology business supporting one of the world's leading online gaming platforms. This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale, business-critical C++ platform, helping modernise legacy systems while supporting a major cloud migration programme.
Role Overview- Location: Remote, must be based in UK
- Package: £600 - £650pd Outside IR35
- Duration: 3 months (Sept - Dec)
- Industry: Technology / iGaming
- Develop high-quality C++ within a large, established production codebase.
- Play a key role in migrating core platform capabilities from Windows to Linux as part of a wider modernisation programme.
- Refactor and modernise legacy components while maintaining stability and existing functionality.
- Build and enhance high-performance, low-latency, server-side systems supporting a live platform.
- Integrate platform services with AWS where required as part of the wider cloud programme.
- Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude, to improve productivity while maintaining engineering quality.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, cloud specialists and stakeholders to deliver technical solutions and communicate progress effectively.
- Identify technical risks early and contribute to pragmatic, incremental improvements across the platform.
- Expert-level modern C++ development with recent, hands-on commercial experience.
- Proven commercial experience developing across both Windows and Linux environments is essential.
- Demonstrable experience modernising, upgrading and maintaining large, legacy C++ platforms.
- Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, memory management and performance optimisation.
- Server-side development experience with solid networking fundamentals, including TCP.
- Strong unit testing practices and experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with build tools such as CMake, Git and automated testing frameworks such as GoogleTest or Catch2.
- Strong debugging skills using tools such as gdb, Valgrind or sanitizers.
- Exposure to AWS services, networking or containerisation is highly desirable.
- Previous experience within iGaming or online gambling is highly preferred. Candidates from other low-latency, real-time environments such as trading or financial services will also be considered.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools—particularly Claude or similar LLM-powered coding assistants—will be heavily favoured.
- Python or scripting experience for automation is beneficial.
- Able to work independently, onboard quickly and communicate technical decisions clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work on a high-profile, enterprise-scale engineering programme.
- Help modernise a large C++ platform while contributing to a significant Windows-to-Linux migration.
- Collaborate with experienced engineering teams and AWS cloud specialists.
- Gain exposure to AI-assisted software development practices using Claude.
