We’re partnering with a leading technology organisation to appoint an experienced Delivery Manager for a permanent position based on-site in Gloucester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished delivery professional to lead complex infrastructure and platform projects within a highly technical, secure environment. You’ll take responsibility for projects and defined workstreams throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring they are completed to agreed schedule, cost, scope and quality requirements.
The OpportunityAs Delivery Manager, you’ll establish, plan, manage and control assigned projects in line with customer expectations, contractual obligations and established delivery processes.
You’ll lead cross-functional project teams, coordinate internal and external stakeholders and maintain clear oversight of milestones, budgets, risks, dependencies and performance. This role requires confident leadership, sound judgement and the ability to maintain delivery momentum while managing competing priorities.
You’ll also contribute to the continued development of project delivery capability, sharing lessons learned, improving ways of working and supporting less experienced colleagues.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou’ll play a key role in successful project delivery by:
- Planning, managing and delivering projects or workstreams against agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality and governance requirements.
- Leading infrastructure and platform deliveries within a highly technical environment.
- Coordinating project teams and resources, ensuring responsibilities, priorities and dependencies are clearly understood.
- Monitoring delivery performance and taking appropriate corrective action where required.
- Identifying and managing risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and change.
- Maintaining accurate project plans, forecasts, dashboards, governance packs and supporting documentation.
- Building trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Leading project meetings, reviews and governance forums, ensuring decisions, actions and escalations are clearly recorded and progressed.
- Supporting project mobilisation and maintaining delivery momentum through effective planning and oversight.
- Ensuring project activities and deliverables comply with organisational, contractual and quality standards.
- Providing day-to-day direction, guidance and support to project teams and junior colleagues.
- Contributing to continuous improvement through delivery insight, lessons learned and project management expertise.
You’ll be an experienced Delivery Manager with a strong understanding of project governance and a proven ability to lead complex technical projects or workstreams.
You will also have:
- A degree or equivalent practical experience in project management, business, engineering, science, technology or another relevant discipline.
- A recognised project management qualification such as APM PFQ, PRINCE2 Foundation, AgilePM Foundation or equivalent.
- Experience delivering infrastructure and/or platform projects against time, cost, scope and quality targets.
- Strong knowledge of project lifecycles, planning, budgeting, governance, risk and issue management, change control, reporting and quality management.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and maintain delivery momentum.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to communicate clearly across project teams, customers, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and creating effective collaboration around shared delivery objectives.
- The ability to assess complex information, make informed decisions and escalate issues appropriately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate reporting for different audiences.
- High levels of competence using Microsoft Office, JIRA and Confluence.
- Experience working within a governed, quality-driven and highly technical delivery environment.
- Valid eDV security clearance.
Practitioner-level qualifications such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner or AgilePM Practitioner would be advantageous, as would membership of a recognised professional body such as APM.
