Introduction

This is a chance to join a growing transformation consultancy delivering large-scale change across the public sector. As Head of Product Management, you’ll play a key role in shaping how digital services are designed, delivered, and improved for real-world impact.

Role Overview:

  • Location: Hybrid / London (2-days per week on-site)
  • Package: Competitive Day-Rate (Inside IR35)
  • Industry: Digital Transformation / Public Sector Consulting

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead and evolve the product management capability across multiple client programmes
  • Set the standard for product best practice, frameworks, and governance
  • Guide teams in defining product vision, roadmaps, and prioritisation strategies
  • Ensure delivery is rooted in user needs, data insights, and measurable outcomes
  • Oversee product delivery across complex public sector transformation initiatives
  • Work closely with senior government stakeholders to shape and deliver impactful services
  • Support teams through GDS service phases, including assessments across Alpha, Beta, and Live
  • Navigate governance, compliance, and policy requirements within regulated environments
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, providing strategic product direction
  • Lead workshops, planning sessions, and key decision forums
  • Manage and develop a team of Product Managers, supporting their growth and performance
  • Oversee multiple workstreams, ensuring delivery stays aligned to timelines, budgets, and goals
  • Identify risks and dependencies early, working cross-functionally to resolve them
  • Contribute to business growth through bids, proposals, and client engagements

Main Skills Needed:

  • Strong leadership experience within Product Management, ideally at Head level
  • Proven track record delivering within UK public sector or government environments
  • Deep understanding of GDS standards, service assessments, and delivery frameworks
  • Experience leading large-scale digital transformation programmes
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and grow high-performing product teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across complex, multi-layered organisations
  • Strong commercial awareness within consulting or client-facing roles
  • Solid grasp of Agile delivery and product lifecycle management
  • Confident communicator, able to influence at senior levels
