Infrastructure Engineer

An established technology and engineering business working across highly secure environments is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to support critical platforms used within the defence and national security space. This is a hands-on role where reliability, collaboration, and continuous improvement really matter.

You’ll join a close-knit on-site team focused on keeping complex infrastructure secure, stable, and operating at its best.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting and maintaining secure, mission-critical infrastructure environments
  • Managing incidents, implementing changes, and carrying out day-to-day operational support activities
  • Delivering approved technical changes and platform improvements for end users
  • Monitoring environments proactively to identify and resolve issues before they escalate
  • Driving automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention
  • Working closely with technical leads to manage risks and maintain platform stability
  • Producing and maintaining clear technical documentation and operational procedures
  • Supporting service reviews, reporting, and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Ensuring services remain compliant with operational standards, policies, and best practices
  • Contributing to agile operational delivery aligned with ITIL practices

Main Skills Needed:

  • Experience supporting infrastructure operations within complex, highly regulated environments
  • Strong knowledge across Windows and/or Linux system administration
  • Hands-on experience with technologies such as VMware, Docker, Kubernetes, Veeam, and monitoring tools
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and cyber security principles
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI environments
  • Ability to support modern service-oriented and containerised platforms
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Understanding of ITIL frameworks and operational service delivery
