Are you a seasoned Networks professional with a passion for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and secure network solutions? We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Networks Engineer to lead and innovate within our dynamic IT operations team. In this pivotal role, you will direct technical strategies, troubleshoot complex networking issues, and collaborate with diverse teams to ensure optimal performance and security for our organization's vital infrastructure.

Duration: 12-month FTC with option to go permanent

Security Clearance: SC Clearance or eligibility

Compensation: £45,000 - £57,000 p/a + Government pension

Work Model: 3 days on site per week in Milton Keynes

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

  • Extensive experience in support, design, and management of highly secure network environments.
  • Expertise in Cisco switching, routing, security, and wireless technologies.
  • Proficiency with network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, ICMP, OSPF, and IPSEC.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA, Firepower (NGFW), Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco ISE, PRIME, BIG IP F5 (LTM, ASM), and network monitoring tools like PRTG.
  • Knowledge of virtual network solutions, including VMware, and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
  • Strong understanding of network security, configuration, and maintenance, along with the ability to lead on complex technical projects.

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with ITIL4 practices and IT Service Management tools like ServiceNow.
  • Leadership experience in managing technical teams or stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience working within government or similar highly secure sectors.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Proven track record in network support and design for secure environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting with minimal supervision.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to develop and review technical documentation and change requests.
  • Strong communication skills to translate complex technical terminology for diverse audiences.
