We are seeking an AI Engineer to join an ambitious digital transformation programme focused on driving the adoption of Artificial Intelligence across a large and complex higher education environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about AI, automation and emerging technologies. You'll play a key role in identifying opportunities for AI-driven improvements, developing innovative solutions, and helping to define how AI is adopted across the organisation.

The Role

  • Working within a newly established AI programme, you will help identify business challenges and design practical AI-powered solutions that automate manual processes, improve productivity and enhance user experiences.
  • You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to understand problems, develop proof of concepts, build AI solutions and collaborate with both internal and third-party development teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • This position is focused on AI applications, intelligent agents and workflow automation rather than infrastructure or traditional software engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop AI-powered applications and automation solutions.
  • Build AI assistants, agents and copilots using Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI and Power Platform technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop proof-of-concepts and rapidly prototype innovative AI solutions.
  • Create Python-based services, integrations and automation scripts to support AI initiatives.
  • Integrate AI solutions with existing enterprise systems and applications.
  • Apply prompt engineering, orchestration techniques and modern AI best practices.

About You

  • Around 2-3 years' experience in AI, automation, software development or a related technology discipline.
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio.
  • Exposure to Azure AI services and the wider Microsoft AI ecosystem.
  • Strong Python skills.
  • Experience developing automation and workflow solutions.
  • Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering.
