Hourly Salary: £28.50
IR35: Inside (Must use an umbrella company)
Overview
An experienced Application Support Engineer is required to provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for business-critical applications within a higher education environment. The role focuses on application stability, security, performance, and continuous improvement, working closely with internal teams and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Level 2 and Level 3 application support
Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents and issues
Implement configuration changes, upgrades, and enhancements
Manage application and infrastructure patching
Coordinate with third-party vendors on maintenance and upgrades
Support security, compliance, and data protection requirements
Maintain technical documentation and user guidance
Engage with business and technical stakeholders to support change and improvement
Contribute to application roadmaps and planning
Deliver user training where required
Essential Experience
Proven experience in application support (L2/L3)
Experience with service management systems and processes
Strong knowledge of configuration management, patching, and application security
Experience in a customer-facing IT support role
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Knowledge of UK Higher Education systems and processes
Understanding of UK GDPR / data protection
Desirable
Experience working in Higher Education
Familiarity with agile delivery
ITIL or relevant application certifications
