We are recruiting for an OT Applications Engineer to join a cutting-edge automation department that is leading the charge in automating recycling processes across UK and international facilities. This team designs, builds, and implements bespoke automated equipment and production lines, leveraging the latest technologies such as 3D printing, industrial robots, cobots, smart factory tools, and Industry 4.0 systems.

As part of a major digital transformation initiative, we are expanding the team to support continued innovation in operational technology and automation development.

The Role

As an OT Applications Engineer, you will design, develop, implement, and maintain OT applications and automation systems across both UK and overseas manufacturing sites. Your work will ensure seamless integration between OT applications, control systems, and wider IT platforms, while maintaining cybersecurity and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities Application Development & Integration
  • Configure and deploy SCADA, HMI, and MES systems
  • Develop automation logic/scripts for PLCs and industrial controllers
  • Build custom OT applications using C# and web-based languages/frameworks
  • Develop systems that support data collection, analysis, and integration
System Commissioning
  • Install, test, and validate OT applications on production lines and automated systems
Maintenance & Optimisation
  • Monitor and troubleshoot existing OT and automation systems
  • Apply updates, patches, and performance enhancements
  • Ensure system reliability, uptime, and compliant security standards
IT/OT Convergence
  • Integrate OT environments with enterprise IT systems for analytics, reporting, and improved visibility
Support & Documentation
  • Provide technical support for OT applications
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for applications and integrations
