Cyber Security Analyst

Contract Type: Temporary, remote working
Contract Length: 3 months, Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Daily Rate: £226.68 per day, inside IR35 paid to Umbrella

Introduction
Our client, a prominent organisation in the healthcare sector, is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Analyst to join their team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of digital systems and information assets within a complex healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for:

1. Leading operational cyber security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response across the digital estate.
2. Identifying, assessing, and mitigating cyber risks and vulnerabilities across infrastructure, cloud, applications, and endpoints.
3. Providing expert advice on cyber security controls, architecture, and best practises to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
4. Coordinating and managing cyber security incidents, ensuring timely containment, investigation, and recovery.
5. Supporting the implementation and optimisation of security tools, including SIEM, endpoint protection, identity security, and threat detection platforms.
6. Contributing to the development and enforcement of cyber security policies, standards, and procedures.
7. Ensuring compliance with NHS cyber standards, Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), and national cyber frameworks.
8. Undertaking vulnerability scanning, penetration testing coordination, and remediation tracking.
9. Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery planning from a cyber security perspective.
10. Contributing to cyber awareness, training, and organisational capability development.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Degree-level qualification in Cyber Security, Computer Science, IT, or equivalent specialist experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in cyber security.
  • Significant experience in cyber security operations within a complex enterprise environment, ideally within the NHS or public sector.
  • Proven experience in managing and responding to cyber security incidents, vulnerability management, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with SIEM, endpoint protection, identity security, and monitoring tools, as well as cloud security (Azure/Microsoft 365).
  • Experience in compliance frameworks such as DSPT, ISO 27001, or NIST.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information clearly.

  • A proactive and solution-focused mindset, with a commitment to continuous improvement and learning.

Professional Responsibilities
The role will require the postholder to operate with a high degree of autonomy, providing expert advice to technical teams, service leads, and senior stakeholders. The ability to translate complex security risks into clear, actionable recommendations is essential.
