DevOps Engineer (Windows Server Migration)
Rate - £550 (A day)
Location - London (Hybrid)
Duration - 6 Months (Initially)
IR35 - INSIDE (Must use an umbrella company)
You will be primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of a large-scale Windows Server upgrade programme, focused on migrating business-critical applications and services from Windows Server 2012 to modern Windows Server platforms.
Alongside migration activities, you will support Azure cloud platforms, Azure DevOps services, and a range of business applications, helping ensure systems remain secure, stable, and operational throughout their lifecycle.
You will use your technical knowledge and migration experience to plan, coordinate, validate, and support application and service migrations, whilst also contributing to operational support, platform improvements, and project delivery across the wider DevOps team.
As a strong communicator, you will build effective relationships with Infrastructure teams, Application Support teams, Managed Service Providers, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions are delivered successfully and with minimal disruption to services.
You will take ownership of technical work within your area and be responsible for managing activities to meet project and operational deadlines.

Migration & Platform Delivery
- Supporting the migration of business applications and services from Windows Server 2012 to modern Windows Server platforms.
- Planning and coordinating migration activities, dependencies, testing, and validation.
- Supporting migration cutovers, troubleshooting activities, and post-migration validation.
- Working with application owners, infrastructure teams, and third-party suppliers to deliver successful migration outcomes.
Azure & DevOps Operations
- Supporting Azure cloud platforms and associated services.
- Assisting with Azure DevOps CI/CD, deployment, release, and environment management activities.
- Supporting cloud-hosted applications and platform services.
- Contributing to platform improvements, operational support, and technical troubleshooting activities.
Platform Support & Governance
- Supporting production and non-production environments.
- Assisting with incident resolution, problem management, and service improvements.
- Supporting Power Platform solutions, including Power Apps and Power Pages.
Your experience includes...
- Proven experience supporting Windows Server environments ( or later).
- Experience delivering application and service migrations between Windows Server platforms, including dependency analysis, testing, validation, and business cutover activities.
- Strong understanding of migration planning, dependency management, testing, and validation activities.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, IIS, and core Windows Server technologies.
- Experience supporting Azure cloud environments and services.
- Experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD, deployment, release, or platform support activities.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications and services.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with internal stakeholders, managed service providers, and third-party suppliers.
- Experience producing technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure and application platforms.
