Engineering Lead - Observability (Prometheus/Grafana)

Global Bank | 6-Month Contract | Inside IR35Hybrid: 2 Days Onsite - London, Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh

My client, a global bank is looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to strengthen its observability and monitoring capabilities across critical applications. This is a hands-on role focused on Prometheus, Grafana, and modern telemetry tooling.

Key Responsibilities

• Improve Prometheus scrape coverage, exporter deployment, and Grafana dashboards for critical systems.
• Enhance monitoring configuration, alert quality, SLIs/SLOs, and KPIs.
• Deliver accurate end-to-end flow visibility through service maps and dependency visualisation.
• Refine observability practices to support operational resilience

Essential Skills

• Deep expertise with Prometheus (instrumentation, PromQL, alerting rules, HA, Thanos/Cortex/Mimir).
• Strong Grafana skills: dashboards, alerting, synthetic monitoring, Loki logs, RUM tooling.
• Experience with APIs, automation, and integrations across Loki, Tempo, and OpenTelemetry. xkybehq

• ML-assisted anomaly detection and advanced root-cause analysis across metrics/logs/traces.
