Enterprise Architect - 6-month Contract | Inside IR35 Hybrid | Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or London

My client, a leading telecoms company is looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect to support a major digital transformation programme. This role requires someone who can operate at senior level, influence technology direction, and drive end-to-end architectural strategy across multiple domains.

The Opportunity

You will act as the Enterprise Architecture authority across a key portfolio, shaping future-state architecture, defining roadmaps, and ensuring alignment across business, product and delivery teams. You will collaborate with solution architects, engineering leads and senior business stakeholders to ensure architectural coherence and accelerate strategic delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end Enterprise Architecture across the assigned domain.
• Develop target architectures, roadmaps, transition states and high-level designs.
• Provide architectural governance and assurance across multiple agile delivery squads.
• Support solution architects on runway preparation, solution patterns and design alignment.
• Drive architectural modernisation across cloud-native, API-first and microservices landscapes.
• Represent architecture in senior forums, influencing technology decisions and investment direction.
• Ensure designs meet non-functional requirements including performance, security and cost efficiency.
• Maintain and evolve domain capability models, ensuring alignment to enterprise frameworks.

Essential Experience

• Strong background as an Enterprise Architect
• Experience shaping architecture for large-scale digital transformation programmes.
• Strong understanding of API-driven integration, modern digital platforms, and cloud-native delivery.
• Ability to produce roadmaps, blueprints and enterprise-level architectural strategy.
• Excellent stakeholder management from engineering teams to C-suite level.
• Experience working within Agile / scaled Agile environments.

Desirable

• Familiarity with TM Forum standards (Open APIs, SID model).
• OSS/BSS
• Experience across sales, service, order orchestration, assurance or network-related domains.
• TOGAF or equivalent certification.
