Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Information Governance Officer to support the management and delivery of crucial information governance activities within the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about upholding information rights and ensuring compliance with Data Protection legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate Freedom of Information (FOI) requests from the public and various stakeholders.
- Process and respond to Subject Access Requests (SARs) while adhering to Data Protection legislation.
- Review, assess, and interpret information requests to provide appropriate responses.
- Liaise with internal departments to gather necessary information for disclosures.
- Ensure all responses are issued within legislative timescales, maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
- Identify and apply relevant exemptions as required.
- Support compliance with Data Protection and Information Governance requirements.
- Maintain precise records of requests, responses, and case outcomes.
- Review both electronic and paper-based records to locate pertinent information.
- Offer advice and guidance to colleagues regarding information rights legislation.
- Assist in developing and improving information governance processes and systems.
- Support records management activities and best practises across the organisation.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience managing Freedom of Information requests.
- Experience in handling Subject Access Requests (SARs).
- Strong understanding of Data Protection legislation and GDPR principles.
- Knowledge of Information Governance and Records Management.
- Ability to interpret legislation and apply it to real-world scenarios.
- Experience working to statutory deadlines and managing multiple requests concurrently.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Proficient communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Confident in reviewing sensitive and confidential information.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience within the public sector, emergency services, local government, housing, or a similar regulated environment.
- Experience providing advice on Information Governance matters.
- Knowledge of disclosure exemptions and information rights legislation.
- Familiarity with case management or information governance systems.
